Someone - Snap Keyboard is not working - well o...
Snap Keyboard is not working - well only half of it works at one time. When using the cable only the side that has the USB C plugged in works.
The right side of the keyboard works after a bit of time only when disconnected from the left side. The LEDS on the right side are working.
The left side LEDs are not, but can type on that side when plugged in directly with a usb-c cable

All LEDS are facing the right direction in terms of oriantation
Also checked all diodes - they are facing the right way
Okay so only 2 of the top LEDS work on the right side
The right side was just working and now isn't...
Will be rechecking every single solder
When I wake up
so nearly the entire right side of the keyboard doesn't work - the printscreen button also doesn't work (i just used my other keyboard to click it
Sometimes they work sometimes dont
Yeah now neithjer starts

that is the solder
My iron no idea, it has a temp scale of 1 to 8 - input voltage of 110, 1A, name 960 I

So I think I messed up my bit c microcontroller. It seems one of the contacts fell off during desoldering. I used resistor wires instead of the mill max pins for the socket as the pins I bought didn’t fit.
So I’ve ordered new bit c microcontrollers
So that could be the issue
Here are the LEDs

Oh man
That’s why it was so difficult to get those cones
Back in the day I did a lot of soldering and I guess the solder I had, had flux in it… okay thank you
What do you recommend for despldering?
I really appreciate this
Thank you guys
I just watched the video
Holy
Moly
That’s a game changer
Ordered a solder remover sucker and the flux as well as brush

I’ve found wicks nearly useless but that might be because I didn’t have flux

Oh that’s smart, thank you 1 u do have some
Cleaned up all the soldered parts
Looks a lot better
@Ahren_with_an_h is this okay?
Looks like the contact is completely gone
Everything but the number row works
Any ideas on how to get it working or lost hope
I dont know if this is a viable strategy

How to Bypass Missing & Broken Solder Pads
We've all done it - Roasted a pad a bit too long with a solder iron. But losing a solder pad on a PCB doesn't usually mean GAME OVER. You've got options to get around it! In this video I show you just one of a few.

Will give that a shot, was thinking of trying this
Cleaning it worked!!!
All keys work
now I need to learn how to edit the keylayout
and the QMK software
or getting a bongo cat
Okay... it stopped working - and now this popped up
Ive flashed it already
so unsure what is gopin on
Whenever I put the firmware in it, it just refreshes and disappears
@jay | nullbits
You’re flashing a UF2? Is the other half working when it’s plugged in alone?
You can try to erase your flash first by following https://github.com/nullbitsco/docs/blob/main/bit-c-pro/user_guide_en.md#erasing-firmware
If that doesn’t change anything you might have a short circuit from your reset pin to ground on the Bit-C.

The other half is working
I believe so uf2
I will check if there is a short on the board
Then do the following as suggested
IT WAS A SHORT
it's working again
Okay it doesn't work when both are connected
and the LEDS on that left side the one that was having those issues when connected to the right side
doesn't work
and the white light turns on
Yeah once plugged into together
the left side stops working
Okay so when plugged in now the right side refuses to work...
I feel like im a chicken with my head cut off
It's like they are taking turns
I think the left side microcontroller may just be busted
got the new microcontroller for the left side
nowall lights light up
but only the side with the usb c plugged in actually types
everything lights up
@jay | nullbits there doesn't seem to be anything in the troubleshooting guide on this
I attempted the bootloader, to reset and erase and then put the software in
and now it is stuck in bootloader no matter if I erase or put new software in

I tried using the pogo pins as well as the cable both lead to not working
I’ll check out the MCU communication pins

Yeah I hope that isn’t the case
I bought two replacement MCUs and don’t wish to spend another $80 on them
@Ahren_with_an_h how do I know if the communication part of the chip is fried?
so I have another new one but I was hoping to return that and not use it and use one fo the older ones

Okay replacing it
worked
but now just have this one column issue
Solve one issue another one pops up 😅
All the solder joints seem good
So unsure what to try next but will keep looking
Yeah the column isnt working
All the solder joints have been cleaned still getting the same issue
Reseating the IC fixed it...
I think
now the right side
when pressing N
and only N
presses the entire row
lol
okay
that entire column presses
it's entire row
man
I cleaned it and now its better?
Both sides seem to be working now, as I typed this full sentence on the keyboard. "The quick brown fox went to the hat store and bought a hat"
Okay
I used the 3mm connector
and that issue with the entire column is back
on the right hand side
and the lights stopped working
on the left hand keyboard
and the right hand keyboard is working, expect the column N when pressed clicks all the keys in the row
sad
Could the 3mm connectors be the problem?

damn
I didnt even think about flux being the condiuctor
so what I'll do is clean it all
and in the process catch this
I ended up cleaning both sides, saw no bridges of solder, but saw a lot of bridges of flux

Everything seems to work now
Seperated, together, apart etc
connected by the 3mm, as well as connected via the pogo? things as well

hahahha It was a lot, love that it is working!
But I am hesitant, because I had it working before, and then it stopped
Though the next step is getting a bongo cat working - though that will not be today

Thank you, I appreciate all the help and knowledge you have given! Without it, I was at a total loss of what to do
Can I paypal you money for a coffee or something, or perhaps if you are not comfortable with that, a favourite charity

Will do, oh for the preconfigured bongo cat do I just drop it in with the bootloader?
