Shirt / tie suggestions.
Need suggestions for shirt / tie colours for this casual tweed suit. I'm looking to set a toe outside the box of white poplin button downs or ocbds for casual suits. First up is a tweed suit with a amazing donegal pattern that includes dark green stripes. First instinct is a green silk tie? There are black flecks so is a black knit good enough? Shirt wise my heart wants more white button downs but I'm open to radical colours like light blue.

Bengal stripe or something are interesting. Tie, i think anything works as the suit is grey overall
Would a green bengal stripe be too matchy matchy?
A pink OCBD or similar could work too. Black knit tie is a good bet, or rust/orange
Just came across this tie on ebay 2 minutes ago
yea i like the shade. it nice
Look into wool and wool blend ties for sure.
It'll be really easy to do "winter" ties. Wool or blend, including cashmere. Darker primary colors are easy. Often these are some sort of brown/earth or mid to dark gray, often patterns like glen plaid, herringbone, etc. Feels warm.
The burgundy in the picture is a wool / silk mix. I'm visiting anglo italian next month for a fitting, they have a bunch of cashmere and dry silk ties I'll take a look at.
Madder is dope for this sort of thing
As for shirts... beyond poplin there is always broadcloth. Besides white there is always ice blue, then pale pink. For some people, champagne and light gray are options (the key for light gray is dark enough to be gray rather than white-that-got-dirty IMO).
Oxford cloth comes in light eight million expressions. More or less rough, bigger or smaller ... uh ... texture?
There's chambray, denim, dobby weave, jersey, and my personal favorite, flannel.
There's also non cotton. Wool is an option I've never tried. Linen is cool, though maybe not quite right for tweed. Silk is ... neat if problematic practically.
What tie would you pair with a champagne shirt?
I have woolen shirts from seh kelly. Merino specifically, they thick lol
Would need a roomy tweed to accommodate
There are shirts made from wool super like material that's pretty fine but I've never gotten hands on one.
Probably the same as for white except I'd avoid yellow colors. Like, my pale yellow / eggshell striped tie would be a definite no-go.
I wouldn't see any issue with most ties and most colors, otherwise, just because the shirt is champagne rather than white. That said, giving it a tiny bit more thought, a champagne shirt is definitely more casual. Doesn't mean a conservative tie is too mismatched or a casual tie is too casual, but I would lean ... more casual
