m: search syntax

When you start a search, it has this little comment about m: syntax smart searches. I can't find any documentation on this or how to use it. There are a few passing mentions in github issues I came across but none of them helped me. So what is this smart search? What can I do with m: ? Can I search for specific metadata somehow?

I've only used it to search for photos by the file name. It seems that it can also search by camera model I can't search by the full file name though, I need to remove the extension Ex. "m:image1.png" won't work but "m:image1" will work

m: lets you search by exif metadata and object tags. this can be good when you’re looking for something specific that the default ml-based smart search wouldn’t know about, like pictures you took in a certain city

I'm curious about this too. I'd like to search based on a specific date
