What are good shirts for when it's hot?

Hi folks, I'm a pretty big dude in south Texas, where we've had months of 100+ °F weather. I'm interested in trying to move past my t-shirt and jeans days, but I feel like a lot of clothes just leave me a sweaty mess. What would people recommend for good shirts to wear when it's hot? I've found guayaberas to be very comfortable, but I'd like to see what other options folks would recommend. Thanks in advance!

Shirt doesn't really matter, material does. Seersucker, linen, and semi-synthetics (modal, viscose, rayon, etc) are generally the classic hot-weather textiles. Non-seersucker cotton is ok. Linen wrinkles and semi-synthetics can be fragile (require more effort to wash) are the general draw-backs. Seersucker is technically just a weave, but 90% of the time cotton is the material used. This all applies to pants as well.

fellow south texan, and I primarily wear loose linen shirts (though there's also viscose and rayon and the rare cotton thing going on too)

Another good material for hot weather is Silk. It can cool you down fairly quickly but sadly silk is really sensitive and can get destroyed fairly quickly. It's also really expensive but you can always get stuff that isn't solely made out of silk to save money.

Was in Italy last month and while it wasn’t 100+, I still sweat like a mofo. Linen and silk shirts literally kept me the coolest. You can thrift patterned silk shirts for cheap. One of my silks was a dark green with patterns so I literally sprayed it with some water before going out and letting it dry off my body. was really cooling that way.
