My server gets resolved on mcsrvstat.us but not in game
Hi, so I am running a tiny server network with a lobby and game servers, it's linked together with velocity. I found out that my domain that people is going to use to connect to( snowflake-mc.xyz ) does not work in game but the VPS' ip does get resolved on mcsrvstat.us. I've tried removing and adding it in cloudflare, trying a different domain, but none worked. The server is running and the firewall is not blocking it (since the VPS' domain can still connect to the server. (node.nick-is-in.icu:25565) as well as the VPS' ip) Please help as this has never happened and I can't find anyone with this happening to them thanks!

TLDR: main domain(snowflake-mc.xyz) not doesn't resolve(SRV record) to server domain (node.nick-is-in.icu) in game but can still be pinged on mcsrvstat.us
your A record on snowflake-mc.xyz is under cloudflare proxy
which wont work for mc
theres also no srv record on it
^^
Hey, thanks. But the subdomain that goes to the server already has its proxy off
and i made sure the snowflake domain is pointing to node.nick-is-in.icu
can u send a full screenshot
i meant for ur snowflakes
one
you have 2 records on the same one
the eu3.actimium one is just for dynmap
that goes to my site
also 25565 doesnt need a srv record so you could just directly point it to the nodes/server's ips
the game is probably going to the A record
oh
thanks ill give it a test when i get home
this is what i did for a test server i have on cloudflare
the "name" under an A record needs to be the first part of ur url
url:
why
that looks awful
yeah i just think he doesnt have it setup properly, and im explainign what he has
and what he shuold have
ah
well its also not right
thats exactly how it works
you dont include domain in A record
i never said u did
creating an a record results in that
oh i misunderstood mb
yeah i have yet to type what he should put
this is what he wants
obviously you can replace the
mc
under the name in the A record to whatever you want
and a side note, usually www
is a CNAME, and not an A recordthis is what i have now
the ip that ends with 220 is the server website and the one that ends in 71 is the vps thats running the server
i tested it again with mcsrvstat.us again and it shows that my server is online but not in game
for some reason the only way for me to use it is to connect with the A record and not the SRV one
is the server self hosted?
no its a vps
i just joined the server
and it worked fine
yea thats the one using the a record, i don't know why the one with the srv record isn't working
what are you trying to do?
what ip?
all srv records do is make it so u dont need to put a port at the end (which isnt really useful if ur using the default 25565 port)
i know but its just weird that it randomly stopped working after a while
i dont see any issue here
so im confused as to what you're trying to do
its working perfectly how u set it up
ah ok
cuz im just used to using servers with weird ports and i assume i can only use srv records
thanks for helping :)
well explain what you're trying to do

and i can help you
you're saying its not working, but what is not working?
ok, so i was used to using srv records for servers but my game just wouldn't connect to it if it's using an srv record
but using an a record solves it
i just wanted to figure out why isn't the srv records working with my game
as it was fine a few days ago
i dont think you're understanding my question
what is not working right now
the srv is working
its working fine right now, im using an A record
how did u get this screenshot
that was before
do you want it so you dont need mc in the front?
yep, but i already did that
ok nice
so your srv record is working
no its using an A record now, it wasnt working when it was still using that SRV record
well you need the a record inorder to use the srv record
yea i have another domain that already routes to the server ip
ur domain has no way to know it should connect to ur server without using an a record
so it'll never work without an a record
the srv record was using the node.nick-is-in.icu domain that was already connected to the server with an A record
yup
you're confusing me
idk what the issue was
same, i just have no idea how the srv record stopped working
my domains arent expired
my servers are running
cloudflare is up
no like.... how was it not working is what im asking lmao
in ur original screenshot u showed 25565, so its not really important nor was it not not working
ur a record was the issue
not the srv
the game gives me a timed out error and unknown host. but mcsrvstat.us can ping the server
thats what im asking bro
its not doing that
how did u get that error
and that has nothing to do with ur srv record
its ur a record
like its weird that it was working a few days ago but just suddenly stopped working
well.. i think the confusion here, is ur telling me srv record when you're meaning a record... but yeah, could have just been a cloudflare or dns issue
Sorry for the confusion thx for helping lol
