How's the fit on this blazer ?
Beside the usual sleeve length, I think the sleeves are a bit too wide, the shoulders look a bit bulky, I think removing the padding might make the shoulder drop more natural and less structured, going for an ivy look here, what do you guys think ?

The shoulder a bit too roomy imo
Removing padding from a jacket is a very risky move. It often does not look right afterwards.
Personally I'd want to press the jacket, it looks like it's been creased from being shipped, first. That helps determine the rest.
Yank down the hem and sleeves, make sure all is fine. Adjust sleeves. I would consider tapering / narrowing the sleeves, maybe, they feel a bit too large as is, but that's your personal sense of style
The rear center vent lot laying flat is a lott concerning
But mostly my concern is what looks like too much fabric on the upper back, see how there just seems to be an excess?
Again, pressing might be all it takes to make things that look wrong, look right.
okay i'll see how things look after pressing.
the sleeves definitly need to get shortened and narrowed i think
the shoulders i think are the problem idk if they can be adjusted
Generally not, no
Which part of the shoulder are you finding an issue with?
Certainly I would agree they look a little roomy, like the rest of the sleeve, but I don't see that as fatal
this is my first blazer so I might be wrong
they just seem too bulky I think id like it more if they were relaxed around my shoulder
though I might be wrong as I said since this is my first time with a blazer
Hmm, so my guess is that what you're seeing is the shoulder being somewhere between a natural shoulder and a roped shoulder, and you're not a fan of it looking a bit too severe?
And you'd prefer to see a natural shoulder or spalla camica shoulder?
(google images those things if you don't know what I mean)
yes exactly I don't like shoulders looking that pointy or severe
Okay yeah in that case sell the jacket
Changing the shoulder expression is in the realm of "theoretically possible, if you are a tailor or know one who likes you."
I'll see if my tailor can do anything about it, else i'll just sell it as you advised.
I honestly wouldn't bother, it'll be $$$ and very risky
If you're looking for something more relaxed, you want something more relaxed. spier & mackay's entire schtick is the italian relaxed style: spalla camica shoulders, minimal shoulder padding / only canvassing, wider and more exhuberant lapels - as an example of one maker. suitsupply's havana style is another alternative. tons of secondhand and vintage examples online
Okay i'll look into these brands you cited for my next purchase.
thank you very much.
Brooks brothers has some stuff that qualifies, samuelsohn, old (not new) hickey freeman
J Crew tends to be a little too trendy for my tastes on a navy blazer, but they named themselves with J Press in mind who makes slightly-stuffy very-classic-ivy stuff, including of course, navy blazers
Then there's ralph lauren and their many sub-labels, especially polo ralph lauren
You're basically looking for american-ivy, with an american or italian sort of style to it (rather than the stereotypical more-severe british style).
the one I'm wearing in the pictures is a RL blazer but It's a green label RL sadly.
yeah exactly
Green label is generally not seen as a good thing... but heck, I have a Chaps RL jacket I got for $15 that, yknow, is serviceable. /shrug
Yeah sadly made the mistake of not looking up RL subbrands before making the purchase.
Nah u fine. We all learn by losing money too. 😂 i always think if u need to alter shoulder, u should sell and buy something else.
Yeah, I just wasted $80 on an eBay blazer that doesn't fit. It happens.
In my case, I did look up RL and Brooks Bros sub-brands, but I didn't take measurements to start with, and just assumed a 42R was going to fit me reasonably well. (It didn't)
