Machine wash cold always?
Do people machine wash cold always even if their clothing tags say warm? I heard no matter what to always wash on cold/cool settings so theres no shrinkage, thoughts?

cold wash and detergent is good enough for most stuff
imo warm wash is a relic of the past when detergent wasn't as good
I never wash clothing on warm or hot
got it
most of the time i do cold
but it got me thinking
If the care tag says warm or hot is ok, then it's probably fine, but there's a chance it'll reduce the longevity of the garment
Heat increases the rate of hydrolysis reactions
Which will damage fibers during the wash
ohhh ok sweet
thanks for the information
I wash my bedsheets warm, everything else cold
bedsheets, underwear, gym clothes go hot and will use a dryer. Everything else is cold wash/gentle cycles/air dried
Air dry is the way
Heat traps odors and stains in fibers - I always air dry gym/sweaty clothes
