Broken Thumbnails
Hey, so I have an album that I've been making of images with broken thumbnails. I've tried the refresh thumbnails option from the three-dot menu and that hasn't fixed it. Additionally, I'm seeing something strange on this particular image. It looks like the same image twice with different shutter settings??
Has anyone seen something like this before? Now that I type this, I wonder if one image is actually backed by a different file like FullSizeRender+2.jpg...
Ohhh, I just tried downloading a handful of the images to look at them and compare them, but they all trigger an internal server error!! Should I simply delete these from the web interface and try a fresh backup from my phone?
Could they be failing to upload due to duplicate filenames?

Update: I deleted a whole swath of broken images, and they're gone from the database, but no files were deleted from the data folders. (Shouldn't the thumbnails be deleted?? I know those are there with a size of 0KB)
So my guess is the files exist on my phone but they aren't being uploaded because they have duplicate file names
@Alex - This looks like to be the same issue I am facing
@davak72 - btw did you upload the original images using the app or web? do you have any of those images left. If yes can you try downloading them and share your server and microservices log?
I am facing the same issue and trying to debug and find a reason
iOS app. I haven't deleted any photos from my iPhone until I can confirm they are backed up to immich and then to my backup of immich haha
Yeah, I can try uploading again and look at the logs. I do know I have some assets that are failing based on the number remaining on my phone and the local iOS app logs too
okk i'm facing this on ios too.
not 100% sure but could it be hapenning probably because of the Filename issue?
most of the ones that fail for me are named FullSizeRender.jpg
Can you access those photos on filesystem level?
And are they openable? Showing just fine?
from the filename in the logs they don't even exist
So it's trying to generate thumbnail from image that doesn't exist because of faulty filename?
I don't think it's an issue with thumbnails. I think it is erroring out during uploads. The db entries are made but the actual image file either doesn't get uploaded or gets errored our during the move from upload directory to the backup dir
Same! I think files with duplicate names can't upload
Some "duplicate" files upload ok, but with .heic and .HEIC or .jpg and .JPG or .mov and .MOV
As soon as the duplicate file name is the same capitalization as well, the upload completely failed
Aha! I’m driving now, so I can’t test it, but I think I came up with a workaround. Just find the one full-size render.jpg that succeeded and rename the file on the file system, as well as the corresponding database reference to the file, but leave the meta-data alone then try uploading again, and repeat for each duplicate on the same day.
