People who completed CPP, what now?
If you're open about it, I got a few questions -
What now? What do you do?
Did you get the job you wanted ? Or anything close/better ?
Are you continuing your studies or nah?

What do you plan on making in the future? Also, is CPP your first language?
it will depend on you
Got a summer student job doing data analysis before my last semester, then finished CPP with an extended part time contract, graduated in Dec 2022 and been doing various contracts since then. Some capital markets, regulatory stuff, more data analysis coming up. Probably not gonna continue my studies unless I decide to move to US. I’d say it turned out pretty well
That's the thing, I don't really have a proper plan. I wanna go into game development but that probably won't be feasible. Also, I by CPP I meant the Advanced Diploma Program, not c++ lol.
fair
Good to know it worked out well for you. Did you had any specific sort of jobs that you wanted to explore and were you able to? Also in the process of finding a job, did it ever felt like a diploma wasnt enough?
I wasn’t too anal about exact job for my first few, whatever I could get lol. But in general I prefer things like electronic trading, data analysis, anything except web dev lol. Never felt that diploma wasn’t enough, because my projects carried my resume. That’s basically all they ever ask me abt at interviews. Nobody seems to give a bollocks about my education lol
When should we as students start developing projects?
And I mean could they be anything, just something to impress employers?
ASAP. Around sem 2 is a good place. Start working on a personal project as soon as you finish reading this message
Were your projects in C?
Can you elaborate on what constitutes as a personal project ?
Or is it better to self teach and do in a different language
Fair enough. This defintely lifts a load off my head. Also, what sort of projects did you had in your resume?
Anything you’re passionate about really.
If you like full stack then do web apps (API stuff are mostly the easiest to approach )
Mine’s in MERN stack cuz I’m into web development
I see, okay. So basically have projects ready by the time we apply for coop placement
Yessir
Walmart has its perks
Depends your definition of project… You can start small programs in sem 1/2, sem 3/4 is where you have the skills to start something substantial. Start with small toy projects, and replace them as you build cooler and better stuff. Your first projects will probably not impress anyone, but once you’re past sem 2 it’s time to start building stuff that will. If you need inspiration all my projects are on www.GitHub.com/nluka
oh lol I actually thought C++ my bad there
Wow that’s cool stuff
I have a dumb question. What’s stopping people from taking other peoples project code and just using it as their own?
Lol
Nothing ig
Getting a recruiter/ manager to actually see your resume and projects is a blessing nowadays
:///
Yeah, getting the interview is the hardest part
x.x
That’s where the gigachad side projects and strong network come in
Nothing beats lying on your resume 🤤
