Hi Everyone, we have been brainstorming ideas for a proper Cadence logo and we'd like your help deciding which one to go for! Here are sketches of the 2 ideas that we like the most. Vote with the emojis - use π for the first (longer) one or π for the second (chain link).

I didn't propose the second logo, but when I saw it, it felt like it embodies the concepts of "chain", "security", but also "link" as a connection pretty well.
And Cadence does "link" in the sense of connecting: one of the core features and guiding principles of it is enabling composability, which connects different pieces together and lets them interact

yeah, definitely unfortunate but i also had an initial mental connection to ChainLink when i saw the second logo, rather than to Cadence
If we're going to stick with the green circle, we should definitely find a way to do the C, and not spell out cadence, i think
so somehow emphasis
<-
in the logo without spelling out the entire word of Cadence@0xG | Flow 4D as the creator of the original sketches, FYI for the feedback on the ideas. It seems that the chain is definitely the winning idea but it resembles chainlink too much, which I think is fair.
How about combining the C and the <-, something like this. How would people feel about that ?
It also kinda looks like an arrow hitting a target, which is what Cadence is about π
this is the Chainlink logo so not really seeing the resemblance. π€·ββοΈ https://chain.link/brand-assets
Will bang out some options for C <-

The first is a logotype, the second a logomark, both very common https://99designs.com/blog/logo-branding/logotype-vs-logomark-vs-logo/

Logotype vs. logomark vs. logo: What is the difference? - 99designs
Have you been wondering how to differentiate a logotype vs logomark vs logo? Here we break down the difference between logotypes and logomarks and explain the pros and cons of each.
Like this one too! π
Itβs all about perspective. If you want to see negative things, you see them π
Keeping a positive spin on it: Cadence is so strong it will connect anything π

Couple more quick sketches. Not really worth fleshing out details until a concept is chosen imo

nice, I like the idea of "blocks" and "composition" π looks a bit too complex and too close to the Solidity logo though. maybe it can be simplified a bit so its less busy?

ok, thanks all for the input! I sounds to me like we are zeroing in on 2 new ideas:
1 is the C<-, second is the "Blocky C shape inspired by Flow logo" concept, in a way similar to solidity, only needs to be simplified.

I quite like that it's a fun community activity. See e.g https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=680521

Turns out deciding on a logo is a subjective thing. Who would have thought!
As we all know, it's tough to design by committee. If we want a logo, we should get feedback from sketches, come up with a shortlist and vote on that.
Hand off to an "actual logo designer" lol for the final design options
