attire for “colorful cocktail” dress code

Hey y’all, I’m going to a wedding in a couple weeks with a dress code of “colorful cocktail attire”. I’ve got this pink textured wool blazer that I want to base my outfit around. I tried pairing a few things in my wardrobe to see what fits well. Thoughts on what color pants and shirt would go best with this? I’m also open to buying something of a different color if nothing in my wardrobe matches well. Tie or no tie? Or maybe a pocket square? Also, thoughts on tees under blazers for a wedding? My gut feeling is that it’s too casual.

I'd probably avoid a colored shirt with the blazer. Stick to a white dress shirt and let the blazer be the statement. Maybe a fun pocket square

No tshirt definitely. Button-front shirt.

I tried it with white and my initial thought was it didn’t give the fit enough color, but I can see how a colored shirt could detract from the blazer

Beyond that I could see it going a few ways depending on how formal you want to be. Given the event invite I suspect it's not super formal but it depends... as usual - social circles and culture

yeah the ceremony is at an art museum and they’re not v formal people in general

For more formal, I'd do white shirt (poplin or linen), or champagne, but ice blue doesn't seem to gel with pink to my eye. A fairly colorful tie, white square, and trousers somewhere in a tan, ivory, sand, stone, along with brown or burgundy shoes (loafers, derbies, or brogued oxfords) For least formal? I could see a colored shirt like you did. No tie, no square, same trousers, same shoes My best bet would be least formal combo except white shirt. Textured maybe, like oxford cloth or dobby weave or so on. No square, or a playful square. No tie, or a playful tie. Think loafers and adjacent first, but for more formal shoes, shell would be solid, cxl, or calf if that's what you own. Though I probably would choose only tie or only square or neither, but not loud both

Never thought of getting a textured white shirt, that would be fun. I like the idea of a playful tie or square for an extra splash of color, any tips on color pairing those with the overall fit? And thoughts on the shoes I have on in the pics? The only other dress shoes I own are black loafers

I cannot say I like those shoes. Show the loafers

Solid I'd want to see a white square. Maybe a silk poof. I think it could go well. I think skip the tie unless you are a tie lover

Sweet, thanks man. White linen square?

I'd like to see a white linen square, or a white or off white poof, to see how I like it. I bet either would work well.
