Selvedge with polyurethane?
I found a nice pair of black selvedge jeans and was thinking of buying, but I noticed they are 4% polyurethane. I'm wondering if it's worth the price at over 200. Wouldn't it make them not very breatheable? Why would they add that?

are they a model that is listed as having stretch?
Yeah, it's probably for stretch. I have a pair of raw/selvedge jeans from Hiroshi Kato that are 4% elastane (which I think is the same thing). I haven't noticed any problems with breathability.
The raw denim purists disapprove of anything other than 100% cotton, but who cares? If you like it and it looks good, go for it.
This is exactly the brans I was looking at! How do you like them?
I have a Kato shirt that used to be my dad's and it's one of my favorites
I'm just wary about synthetic fabrics
I like it.
Do you live somewhere hot/humid?
chicago
Cause that's a concern for me
Oh no way me too
Summers are sweaty here lol
jeans in the summer don't work for me.
I wear mine without a problem
I'm not a fan of shorts
I've had a few pairs of Katos over the years and enjoyed them. The breathabilty is pretty much the same as other jeans as the elastane is such a small percent. It's there to make them stretch which is kinda their thing. Definitely makes them more comfortable if you're going for a less wide fit of jean.
I have a wide fit pair and it’s not necessary but I do also appreciate the stretch there.
I don't pay $$$ for synthetics unless it's tech stuff for a specific usecase (like goretex etc). Definitely not for jeans. But ultimately it's up to you
From talking to a lot of people Hiroshi Kato is the gold standard for stretch denim, if it’s your thing. They’re comfortable right off the bat and do look good.
