Barrier only works when I have an app open.
My mouse only goes through when I have an app open.
That was the problem when I made a post yesterday about it not working downwards.

Do you use Wayland? If that is the case, barrier doesn't support it.
I think barrier is becoming abandonware, some former manteiners made a fork (Input Leap) and they are working on Wayland support.
For now, I suggest you try using Barrier on X11

To be fair, that's the only reason I'm still using X11 =/
I need barrier for work
I got tired of dealing with Barrier's quirks, so I ended up just using remote desktop software like Anydesk
I made it work, by reinstalling my os and using X11 π
