What CPU is best for MC servers
I am looking at some dedicated hosting and I was wondering what cpu to go with, I know single thread performance is important (aswell as atleast around 4 cores totall per server), besides that I am not sure what to pay attention to.
How much does the Cache matter for example?
im mostly split between amd 5 3600 or intel i5-13500

single threaded performance is the thing to look for really, the higher the better
If u choose i5 13500 u have to remember to disable efficiency cores or atleast pin every Mc instance to performance cores
why the hell would intel make performance and efficiency cores a thing,
I avoid intel cpus because I don’t like the concept of efficiency and performance cores
yeah that is my struggle aswell
but good to know i can pin them to performance cores, can i then run the chat or netty threads or something on the efficiency cores or are they not usefull at all?

in the benchmark i found the i5 seems better, but im worried that that is not applicable with the efficiency cores

I asssume i would have to pin the whole jvm to certain cores? async plugins (anticheat for example) cant use it either that way?

you do have to also consider the starting cost
when renting with hetzner they are basicly the same price
(as in u have a setup fee with the i5-13550 but not with the r5 3600)
that sample amount is quite alot smaller
but yeah it is probably faster
but half the cpu is not usefull for mc

but they have the same amount of threads
(6 performance cores on i5-13500 and 6 cores on r5 3600)
so same amount of "perfomance" threads
but the once on i5 are faster
(unless the samples are not good)
