Anyone have advice on removing the lanolin (sheep) smell from a new wool sweater?

Would dry cleaning it work?

How strong is it? To a certain extent you should just wear it. If it’s really bad (petting zoo esque), you should hand wash with eucalan then dry in the sun. It’ll never fully go away and you don’t really want it to - the lanolin gives it texture and water resistance

Honestly pretty bad lol. I'll try that, thanks

You can also toss it in the dryer with a dryer sheet to dry for ~8 minutes, but make sure to air dry afterwards in the sun. The mild scents from the eucalan, the tumbling in the dryer, the sunlight, and then you getting some wear into it should help make it better

would you recommend scented or unscented eucalan?

Probably scented if you’re really trying to get rid of smell. At the same time, don’t use too much when hand washing - there should be instructions on the container. I’m partial to lavender myself OH and when hand washing sweaters make absolutely sure not to let a direct stream of water hit the sweater. So fill up whatever basin/bowl/sink you’re using with water first, and then dunk the sweater in once it’s full
