is it possible to install a custom map while also using multiverse-core?
Many friends has joined, and sometimes people want different things. Would like to test using a custom map in one world they can tp to while they can still play the usual SMP stuff in the main worlds.

Yes, using multiverse too https://github.com/Multiverse/Multiverse-Core/wiki/Command-Reference#import-command
So for example, if I use this: https://www.9minecraft.net/ruins-of-the-dead-map/, would it just be there in multiverse together with the level system that this particular custom world has?
