Permission based Viaversion
My bedwars server has all 1.8 arenas in a world named 1_8, and a few squad arenas in a world named 1_20.
I am looking for a plugin that has an
allow permission that I can set to context world=1_8. Hence, players cannot enter the world named 1_20 because, they dont have the allow permission in context world=1_20.
Is there any premade plugins that can do this?16 Replies

Permissions based viaversion, it should be a thing 🙂
For example
You, as a staff member might want to join your 1.20 server from lower versions. But, maybe you only want your players to join with 1.17+
sounds pointless
I feel like its useful if you are using a 1.8 client on 1.8 pvp based servers, and you can directly join your own server without restarting your client for your server version
if ur a server owner of any successful, or in general a server with any players etcwhy would u be on a different client version?
My server has 1.8 gamemodes like Bedwars and Duels1.8. But, I also have 1.17+ Survival gamemodes
i dont see the benefit of disallowing 1.20.1 players to join bedwars? its not like they get a advantage afaik

Using a mod called ViaFabric/ViaForge you can join servers with a newer version even if the server is no using viaversion
If a normal player do this the anticheat will probably flag because how different are the packets
But as long as the staff bypasses the anticheat you can do that perfectly
Thats a nice idea, is there any ways to add mods to Lunar, thats my main client, because it is quite comfortable for server owners. WorldEdit CUI, Fast Fly when holding the sprint key, Direction HUD, Co-ordinates, so you dont have to open the F3 Menu and they just work perfectly all together

I wanted to have my survival server 1.18 to 1.20, but there are some players who prefer playing on 1.16. Seems I will need to give them Anticheat bypass perms
Hm, you can't. You can get all those things with mods. I understand if you don't want to switch tho
Another solution could be creating a "staff proxy"
With viaversion with it
So, when you join that alternate IP it will allow you join without using any mod
You can even do it in your own PC so you don't need to use extra resources of your host
i havent had viafabricplus get me flagged/banned yet on any server
but ofc ymmv
It happened to me twice
I've also tested it by myself and it flags anticheats
I mean. Just think, If you join a 1.12.2 server with 1.20.1 and start fast swimming it will flag it
As that fast movement is not possible in 1.12.2
i dont really swim that much kek

There are more scenarios where you can get flagged
Even simply walking and jumping can be flagged by the most sensitive anticheats
So yeah, I don't recommend using it in public or competitive servers with an anti cheat. Use it by your own risk. In this case is his/her own server so there is no problem
