The side adjustors on trousers, what measurement makes it so that you can tighten them more?

I don't understand your question.
Smaller waist.
Longer adjuster. Creates bunching that isn’t ideal. Proper fitting trousers with a belt always better
The adjusters are mainly to let it out as you bloat through the day from what I understand. That or to make the sizing more available and sell easier
You can have a tailor move the back adjuster piece further to the back if you want. Then you'll have more room to play with.
