Images not showing up in "library" directory on server.
Hey there! I recently uploaded multiple year's worth of photos using the iOS app. The first few years of images seem to have uploaded correctly, but the last few years worth of images are missing from the "library" directory on the Immich server even though the app and admin web portal show the images as successfully uploaded. The admin portal also doesn't show any jobs running. It's been almost a day since the images uploaded. Should this delay be expected or is there something wrong? Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you perhaps use iCloud photos with Optimized Storage turned on?
I'm not sure. I'll have to check. Would that cause this problem?
Potentially
If that is the problem, what would be the proper process for fixing the issue?
I'll need to turn off Optimized Storage, but what do I do about all the pictures that are "uploaded" but aren't actually?
Unfortunately we don’t have any fix for this yet since I don’t use iCloud Photos so it is hard to debug
Is there a way to delete photos from just Immich but not the local device?
Yes, you can delete from Immich, there are two states, the first state will remove from Immich server then the second state will remove from the device with a native prompt
to experiement this yourself, you can upload a nonvalue screenshot and try deleting from the mobile app, it would give you a clear idea how it works.
Is that the archive looking icon with the down arrow?
Cause when I hit the trash icon, it just says that it will permanently delete from Immich and from my device.
that is a common message, once you hit yes. it willfirst remove from Immich server then prompt you to remove you from the device and you can decline for the second prompt to keep it on your device
again, some Android devices might behave differently so please epxeriment with non-value photos 🙂
Ah, I see now.
And it will do the same thing on iOS?
yes
Awesome
Thanks for your help
Is there a way to bulk remove images from Immich, perhaps with the CLI tool?
There is not at the moment
After turning off optimized storage you’ll want to wait for the photos to be downloaded to your phone. When I had icloud photos, backup didn’t work until this was complete.
But it didn’t upload at all until then, so I can’t speak for images that “uploaded” but not really.
