Essential dress shirt and tie colors?
What colors should I get for dress shirts and ties if I was to choose 3-5 of each?
JWhat colors are your suits?
JWhite, powder blue and maybe pale pink shirts, forest green/brown/navy/burgundy tie

JIf you're not wearing a suit it would also be fine to wear a more casual shirt such as an oxford cloth button down. I like colored unistripe ones
GClassic colors: white, ice blue. Then: pale pink, white with blue stripe, white with blue check.
GTies: Conservative are darker colors, either solid with visual/actual texture (eg grenadine), or with small repeating patterns (eg, pindots.) Less conservative but still classy almost everywhere are striped ties (also called regimental, and repp ties, though apparently the latter is a bit of a misnomer, it's a common name for them.) Then you have all sorts of things like paisleys, multi-paisleys, etc that are more to taste. If you wanted just 3, I'd probably get one maroon (either grenadine or pindot), one navy (either grenadine or pindot), and one more colorful one. Whoops, forgot to hit submit on this yesterday
