What are you guys go-to brands for semi-luxury or luxury cotton sweaters?

What are you guys go-to brands for cotton sweaters? I am in dire need of a ecru/beige one but it can't be too thick as I don't want to sweat too much indoors and it should fit under a slimmer jacket. I also don't like the paper-thin sweaters either, that are t-shirt thin. I have a soft spot for v-neck stitch at the collar or whatever it's called (not an actual v-neck). Price is not an issue. It can cost €400 if it's actually has provable improvements over a €100 one, whether that is in terms of material and/or working conditions for their employees, it doesn't really matter, feels like it's a win-win if either or preferably both are in-check.

Unfortunately very thin Cheers, do they have standard fit/slim fit or is it just oversized? I tried one of their sweaters once but it was oversized 😦

Been eyeing the Heritage Cotton Crewneck Sweater from Jcrew. Maybe not Semi-Luxury but they do have an ivory colour Ssense sale is still going strong AMI/Ghiaia Cashmere/APC are all good options another one https://www.ssense.com/en-ca/men/product/rag-and-bone/off-white-dexter-sweater/10877951

V-insert is probably the best descriptor I can find online for that kind of stitching FYI

I feel that I might have too much knitwear right now, even if cotton is a bit different knitted than perhaps wool. I have been eyeing APC a lot lately - do you approve of their sweaters? I have their tees and been happy with them so maybe it's worth a try?

It's not what I'd call luxury but I have a thick fisherman's jumper from Paul James I really like

It's semi-luxury I would say or absolutely a price range you can find really good stuff and sleeper hits just as good as something twice as expensive. Unfortunately I'm looking more for a regular sweatshirt and not a knitted jumper

Most sweatshirts are made of cotton. Depending on the type of fit, look, and feel you want, Auralee, Margaret Howell, Merz B Schwanen, and Warehouse Co all make excellent sweatshirts I would not go for Acne or APC - if you really like a design or color go for it, but I don’t think of them as specializing in knitwear or jersey Auralee and Merz in particular devote considerable resources to sourcing the best raw materials / using specialized machines for creating their fabrics / adding excellent detailing / poring over fit and finishing

If you like the traditional v-insert at the collar, Margaret Howell might be up your alley. Japanese repro brands like Warehouse, Fullcount, and The Real McCoys might also have what you want, but they tend to favor heavier weight fleece and terry. I’d recommend taking a browse through the sweatshirt section of stores like Self Edge, Standard&Strange, or Clutch Cafe to see what’s out there. You can also email them and ask for a recommendation for a midweight fleece

Thanks! However I said I didn't want knitwear, I have too much 😄 I'm essentially looking for a daily beater of good quality

They also don’t specialize in fleece or terry Velva Sheen, Lady White Co, and Reigning Champ are some North American brands you could look into as well

I really like Merz vintage washed line, they only have like 3-4 colors but it looks really nice, unfortunately it's oversized fit 😦

How slim are we talking? At some point reputable brands only make slim sweatshirts with lightweight fabrics, as otherwise it would look kind of ridiculous

depends on your build. Compared to a normal sweater they came up more of a cropped/boxy fit for me, but nothing extreme. I dont know what they are supposed to 'specialise' in but the weight and fit is great for me.

In the case of those merz be vintage line, it is advertised as an oversized fit. I'm not really into that. Some space is not the end of the world of course. Merz regular sweatshirts, or well, "classic fit" works just fine, but didn't see any lighter color I like. There is always the private white sweaters on sale right now, but I have no experience with them

Private white has a good reputation, but it’s also not a brand that immediately jumps to mind when I think about top-tier sweats

I've handled in store and they are up to the same quality as their other offerings. No experience long term with APC but I think they shine more in styling/cut more than construction quality.

Anybody have any opinions on Maison Kitsuné? I realize that they won't match APC, AMI but I have always been curious about them. If they are at least decent or if they are as overpriced as band merch at a concert?

glorified instagram targeted ad brand that copies other brands' cool concepts and sells them to people who don't know better. avoid. the fox is cute though

Haha yeah, that was what I was thinking. I was mostly only really interested because of the fox. So in other words, a 60% off tee with a 10% newsletter code slapped on to that could be survivable then, should the opportunity arise.
