R2 - “Domain already in use”
Hi! I’m experiencing issues with R2 and its custom domain feature. I already posted this to the forums but a friend recommended to try here as well.
I have my subdomain linked to my bucket, however it says status unknown. Clicking the retry connection button gives me an error “Domain already in use”. Attempting to remove the domain gives me the same error.
R2 allows me to add more domains, however they never end up becoming available. Additional subdomains I can remove.
Connecting a subdomain to another bucket has the same behavior as adding more subdomains to the broken bucket. I can remove them but they also never manage to initialize.

Is your Zone fully set up with our Nameservers ?
Define "fully set up"
I have my domain pointing to the nameservers if that's what you're asking

the subdomain with issues is cdn.skizzium.com
looks like you might have a CNAME called
cdn
pointed to something else, cause I'm getting a 1014 Cross-User Banned notice when trying it in a browser. Usually R2 has a totally different notice without an asset in the uri pathyeah that happens for all subdomains I try connecting

according to the DNS records
and it isn't pointing to it according to the bucket settings
If you delete the DNS record by hand and then go back to the bucket, delete the domain entry by hand if it didn't do it automatically.
Then try again to add it, does it give you any error banners?

but yeah even if I manage to delete it, I don't think I can re-add it
adding other subdomains doesn't seem to work either
If you click that three-dot menu, is there an Enable option?
I just added media.skizzium.com and that's giving 1014 as well
yeah, toggling it on and off works
it was enabled when I initially tried connecting and got a 1014
but yeah no, I can't even add more subdomains
they get added to the DNS but are stuck initializing and give 1014 in the browser
Have you configured any redirects or origin rules against that URL?
Page rules, redirect rules, origin rules?
now that you mention this, I do have a redirect rule to redirect people to my discord server, it's supposed to only work on the base domain though

I also have a cache rule

i bet if you turn that off temporarily the bucket will resolve
doesn't hostname include the subdomain though?
pretty sure it just looks for the apex domain
nope still doesn't resolve
and my site doesn't redirect now
also other subdomains work just fine
either way I added an exception to the rule for this specific subdomain, just to be sure
yeah, that's a weird one to be sure. I'll get back with you on that, I asked about it internally to see what else can be checked on.

@uSkizzik (Ping on reply) I've gotten a response about this request. You will need to create a Support ticket to get that resolved. There is no other option for us to take without that.
I thought support tickets were only for people on paid plans

You can do Account, Account Management, "Other / I don't know"
and then fill out the rest of the form with the details

Yeah, just put the short version. Issue with R2 bucket not provisioning DNS record.
if it asks for more details, you can explain what's going on and include that you were advised to create a ticket.
