how should I complement this blue linen suit with shoes etc

Getting this blue linen suit, what should I think of as versatile options for shoes to go with it? I get the feeling dark brown leather might be the best option, but am conscious that some frown on it as opposed to black leather.

I don't think anyone will frown on brown when paired with a light linen suit - black would feel out of place imo

One of those times where tan actually will work quite well, but versatile would be brown or burgundy. Depending on formality, which is ineherently limited by material and color: Most formal: white or pale pink dress shirt (linen or cotton), tie, square. Either tie or square can be loud, but both I think would be too much. Brown or burgundy oxfords, plenty of brogueing is probably okay. Less formal: no tie, optional square, and leave the top two buttons unbuttoned. Oxfords, derbies, loafers. Less-less formal: no tie, no square, wear a shirt with a soft rolled collar instead of a sharp one (likely button-down), and go for loafers or espadrilles.

I find that natural CXL and similar shades work great for light summer suits, and are versatile with summer casual fits, especially with denim. They are not versatile for more formal settings, though, and put of place in fall/winter.

I’d caution people against cxl if they’re wanting “nice” shoes. They certainly look good, but the creasing is usually a little more than non-enthusiasts like to handle

A fantastic leather tho — here’s my Grant stone dune penny loafers after like 1.5 years https://imgur.com/a/542Eelz
