Unknown players connecting to personal server?
Hey all! I run a small personal server off of a personal computer on my home network. The server has a whitelist. Also, the external IP address is run through a dynamic DNS redirect service, if that's relevant
Since updating to 1.20, I've noticed in the server log that random users are attempting to connect to my server. This has never occured on my server before, and now seems to happen about five times a day. Of course, the users are blocked from joining due to the whitelist, but it still seems unusual to me
I don't have my server IP posted to any server websites or anything; the server is just kept between myself and a community of friends
From my research, it seems like this is just a fact of life for many servers. From what I understand, people use IP scrapers to search for open servers to join. Since I run a whitelist, it seems harmless, but I'm not sure
Is there any security risk to seeing these login attempts on my server? Should I be alarmed? Any info is appreciated :hffd1dc:

its just server scanners, and no, no harm
Alright, cool beans, thanks!
Oh! Actually! Any idea why it never happened before, but has started happening now?
SSI/scanning has become more popular
and theres a notorious one who turned their scanner bot into advertising
