Silky-smooth 100% cotton black T-shirt is kinda itchy after the first wash
Hi, I’m looking for advice on what to try next.
When trying the shirt in the shop and before the first wash, it was very comfortable and smooth on my skin. I then washed it on the delicate setting and air-drying it, while at the touch it still is smooth, when wearing I feel it kinda itchy and not as smooth. It’s not as bad as some linen and wool, but maybe my problem is more the contrast.
Since then I tried ironing it (not a difference) and washing it by itself without detergent cold twice (the first time there was a slight improvement, but after the second time it went back to the same problem).
I’ve read online that other things to try are using a fabric softener (but I’ve read it damages the clothing) and other home remedies like soaking the t-shirt in water and salt for a few days that I’m somewhat afraid to try.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest soaking in distilled vinegar to see if it strips any detergent still clinging onto it
