can/should I polish the buttons on jeans and Jean jackets
I got a vintage denim jacket which looks great but the buttons are almost too tarnished, should I polish them somehow?
I tried googling for cleaning stuff but it is bizarrely unhelpful.

I'm not an expert, but maybe you could try removing the white residue with a toothpick and maybe some acetone? (spot test first)
you can try cleaning it with white vinegar, should take any dirt off
might not do much about the tarnishing but at the same time people want patina so up to you there
i think that looks dope but a little clean won't hurt. i would not polish them, but like they said above maybe just a little brush with some vinegar could help.
