What sleeve length based on jacket
I have a 40R jacket, but I don't know my shirt sleeve length. What would the conversion be?

You should measure a shirt you have that fits, your sleeve length is not necessarily exactly related to your tagged jacket size
Would there be a sleeve length number on the shirt, or do I have to measure it myself? Any guides I can look at for measuring?

My preferred way to do it which is a bit easier than the image imo:
(1) measure from the shoulder seam to cuff on the outer seam
(2) measure the shoulder seam to seam
(3) add measurement in (1) to ½ the measurement in (2)
so, shoulder to cuff plus half back will get you the full sleeve length from the middle of the back
Some shirts are sold in neck and sleeve length sizing. If you have one of those, you can check the size (it should look something like 15/34).
