Thoughts on pink suit and dress?
My girlfriend bought this dusty pink dress for a wedding we are going to. I don't have a suit which fits me; so went shopping today and picked up this pink suit. Does it clash, too much pink, any thoughts negative or positive?

A pink suit is quite bold. As with many bold things, you can pull off a good one with confidence, but one that isn't good is really bad. If this glen plaid pink suit fits you well, I say rock it, if the wedding's formality expectations are in line with it. (But note that there is no requirement or even particular desire to match your date. At most, you'd usually have a nod to matching, a tie or square that's themed in a way that nods towards the dress.)
The other thing about bold + tailoring is, you get one bold item, the rest needs to be conservative, lest you look clownish. Pair that suit with a crisp white shirt, white pocket square, probably a navy tie, and oxfords. (Black or brown/brown-adjacent, though decoration vs plain is your choice.)
You see how well the dark dress goes with his pink suit? You'd be better off with a charcoal suit (not black) to set off her pink dress. Matching rarely works.

Thank you for such a detailed reply, alot of food for thought there. I didn't buy it with much concern on matching the dress, was more because the suit really caught my eye. However having put the two together, do have doubts about it. Thank you for your thoughts
I also have doubts about it but I believe in you. ;)
Ahhh man, I appreciate the belief 🙌, but more doubts are not what I needed 😂

Explorations of Questionable Taste: The Pink Sportcoat Thread
Perhaps a cry for help? What does the guy who needs nothing thinks he needs: A dusty rose or perhaps pink sportcoat.
This started off a year or so ago when I attempted to buy a length of a vintage VBC fabric from Il Vecchio Drappiere - think dusty rose with a white windowpane. Then, a day or...
I tried it on this morning with natural daylight and liked it alot less than in the shops fitting room. I've subsequently chickened out and gone for a much more sombre Charcoal Check. Thanks again for all your help though!
Yeah, need big confidence for pink suit, and need it to be great. ;) If you don't love it, definitely the right call to return it.
I think I had the confidence to carry it; if it had fitted how I wanted, there weren't so many question marks over the suitability with her dress, and it looked like it had done in the shop 🤣 definitely the right move to return it!
