I might try brown
yes
very
lol
This looks kinda bad too
what I would suggest first, is get a pleasing color on a blank bg
Seeing as I am moving away from the connect four themed blue board, going for blue/orange discs
That is kind of what I did and the bright blue looked good on my dark gray background
especially in this last image, the contrast is really low, you are making the board invisible
and you dont' want a bg that is so strong it takes away from your connect 4 game and board
yea
so in the end, I don't think you'll want this image of a dining table? behind it
I kinda like the board not being super bright, but yea the last one is blending too much
this is what I had
I really like this image
I have it blurred and darkened (the img bg}
it's not about the image really
it's more about that I looked at this for a good few seconds before even seeing the board
because it is dominating the view
oh
@ghostmonkey
I need to make it look more woody or something
that might be cool, I think gradients might help too instead of a solid color
the issue is that with each circle/slot there, the non-hole part is a separate SVG for each one...
so that the background can pass through
@ghostmonkey more basic bg with translucent board
this is a super fast mockup of the original blue, but with a slight gradient to give it a fakey depth effect
ah yea, gradient happening
I actually kinda like the flat translucent
especially because I wouldn't have to change how I render the slots
your gradient would look sick for something acquatic themed
well the gradient and the color are 2 seperate things
mostly i was trying to show you how adding a gradient can really make the circle areas stand out
yea especially on the rims/border of the circles
if I could add that rim effect easily I would
