How to update my server?
Noob here, this is the first time I've had to update my server to a new game version (1.20.1) and I'm having trouble. I used this script (https://hub.docker.com/r/marctv/minecraft-papermc-server) to make a paper server on my linux server. I can't find where to drop the .jar for the newest version of paper! The only place I could see was the "versions" folder but that doesn't work at all. Updating the container using the steps on the site didn't help either unfortunately.

Remove the old
.jar file and replace it with new .jar file for the new version.i think you replace it with the main jar

only thing i could find was the one in versions and if i remove it it just goes back
the home directory
In the root directory of the server.
this is what my server folder looks like. i don't see a jar file

name it server.jar
named it to "server.jar"?

i installed using docker

ssh into my server and do the command
the command which is
docker start mcserver
mcserver being the container name
i havent used docker personally but im pretty sure theres a command to update (i think)

now i have 2 docker images
im backing up my server folder real quick and then following a guide on updating docker containers
i guess i have to delete the old container and make a new one from the one i downloaded
not sure yet, we'll see what happens
i dont think you should do that unless you are using hte "Synology DSM" according to the guide

I'm now able to connect to the server again
ok so if anybody is looking at this in the future: this is what I had to do
run the command on https://hub.docker.com/r/marctv/minecraft-papermc-server to download the latest version

automating updates arent really recommended
