So I have a vanilla 1.20.1 Java server. I'm having some performance issues and I'm not sure why. Seems throttled. set up for 4 players 6gb of ram. So I'm wondering whether it could be due to it being vanilla but I don't want to lose progress. So I could backup the files and put them on paper/spigot, is what I hope would be possible

Just replace the vanilla server jar with the paper one It'll do the rest for you

Thanks bro. Do I run my normal optifine 1.20.1 minecraft if my server is paper then?

Optifine is client sided, not necessary to have anything special on the server.

Never hurts to backup! Always backup before any big change!
