Less a MC Admin question and more a Sysadmin question...

I set up a home server rack recently, and it's accessible within my house, however I have attempted to port forward on both port 25565 (MC's default port) and 22 (SSH connection port) and neither are working. My friends still cannot access my server despite the ports pointing to my server. I'm just trying to get this set up. WHAT I HAVE TRIED: - Port forwarding on Port 25565 - Changing the default port to 25566, and port forwarding there - Port forwarding on Port 22 - Port forwarding on both simultaneously - I am able to connect when joining via my server's internal IP address on the specified port. - Going to a website that tests ports tells me that ports 25565 and 25566 are closed. Same with Port 22, which I use for SSH connections on my local network. WHAT I HAVE: - Home server (Mac mini for the hardware) running Ubuntu Server 20.04 - Minecraft vanilla server 1.20.1, running on default values WHAT IS NOT AN ISSUE: - I am using the proper external IP address, not an internal IP address. - Yes, the server is powered on. NOTE: Yes, I've tried googling it. I've also failed googling it.

We may have bad news for you :C
Open your router's configuration interface. Somewhere you'll see something like 'external' or 'public' IP. If your external IP is in one of the following ranges, you're basically screwed as long as portforwards go: - 10.0.0.0/8 - 172.16.0.0/20 - 192.168.0.0/16 - 100.64.0.0/10 - any IPv6 address/range - This shouldn't be a problem, but Minecraft's IPv6 support is still rather quirky. You're at your own but we're happy if you share your experience. You should ask your ISP for a public and IPv4 address (but this may cost you money). NB: your internal IP should and most probably will be in one of the first three ranges, don't mix them up

possibly

Nope. I've been able to port forward for other games such as Terraria, Factorio, and all of that. I am using my external IP for this, and it is not within those ranges. This might be less of a Minecraft issue and more of a "Why won't my server let people outside my network connect"

remove duplicate port forward and try making it only tcp

It's not a duplicate. They're 1 apart under separate rules. I will try making it only TCP tomorrow though.
