Kids face recognition "issue"

Hello, First off, I waited a long time before switching to Immich and boy I was wrong! It's so great! Thank you so much! Now, the issue I have. My two kids (girl and boy) look quite alike but are 2 years apart. During the face recognition, it picks perfectly my girl (the oldest) but my boy always gets recognized as my girl :-p I don't think it's an Immich issue but if you could let me know if something can be done (not even sure how) and where to look, that would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Have a great day!

The ML so great it can recognize the similarity from your DNA 😛. Joke aside, I am facing this problem when I rerun the facial recognition for the entire library again, it would go from the past to the present, and my two daughters get recognized as the same person due to when my second daughter started to get into the picture, her baby face is similar to her older sister so it get recognized as her older sister. And because of that the changes overtime is also identified as her older sister because of the closest approximation estimation of the people clustering. You just gave me an idea to try out to fix this issue. Run detect face job for all, then after you pause the job and clear the job right away. Then choose two photos of your boy and girl and upload them first It will be recognized as two separate people, hopefully 🤞 then you run the detect face for missing to let the pipeline run over the entire library again @jrasm91 this is a fun problem to solve

I'd probably not rerun all. If they matched originally they will match again. Long story short we need to either reduce the threshold for matching to make it more strict. This might be a good idea to do after person merging is available. The other thing is allow for manually tagging/correcting images. Currently there is nothing to do to fix this issue.

Honestly, it's a minor inconvenience. And I must admit, I'm really impressed by the matching overall! Maybe when and if manual tagging is available, it could solve it, we'll see 🙂

Ya person merging/manually tagging will be a good solve for a lot of this.

Use DigiKam, it'll solve your problem as it solved mine for last few years!

I have the exact same problem (also boy and girl and also 2 years apart). Could we reverse the order in which the pictures are processed? It sounds like this would help...?

I was thinking about this too 😄 Let me do some troubleshooting and carry out a trial-fix

Same here. With my two boys and their cousin 😅 I’m sure I was not involved in her procreation.

I have three children and they all look relatively similar. Would be funny if not or? 😄 Just upload 12k pictures and would be happy about a fix.

I added a fix that would start the recognition from the most recent images will be out in the next release

Wow, that would be than the fastest fix i've ever seen. Just kidding. I assume that you already worked on it 🙂

Yes because I have the same issue with my kids 😛

So the fix will also work on a existing library? Probably nearly everyone is struggling with this "issue" 😄

Nice. It looks very very promising. 25k assets remaining to scan. If we get improved partner sharing with selected faces now I can onboard my wife and ditch Google Photos. 👌 Hm seems my 2 sons are still too similar.

I'm at this same point myself, just need it to pass the WAF! 😄

Ah then the next step is to let the user tune the familiarity score

so mine has already created a single face that contains my kids and a few other friends kids, is there going to be any way to pick these apart at some point?

How about allow reassign to different person?

It is more complicated to go that route because you will have to go through all of the photos

Short feedback from me. Well, it works much better. At least with people other than the children. Now all my three children have been combined 😅 Create a person and assign some photos to it, from which the system then learns is not possible or?

It worked fine for my two kids, they are seperated. But my daughter is also recognised as another baby (or the other baby as my daughter?) 😬

I'm about to update from 1.69 to 1.71 and noticed that 1.70 made some changes re facial recognition. As my daughters have merged together for some photos, should I do a complete rescan of faces with these changes or do you think it won't make a big difference yet?

If they are merged only in some pictures I don't think it will make a big difference. The update solved the 'only one kid but they are both' problem for me (mostly).
