CNAME not working
I’m new to admincraft, and everything here is really clunky, but I’ll try to explain it as best as I can.
I have one domain from a dns provider to my host (we will call D1), which according to mcsrvstat.us, works. I added a CNAME to noip (we will call D2) to connect to D1, yet it won’t work. I looked on whatsmydns and it shows the CNAME is there, but it won’t work on mcsrvstat.us (i waited for 5 minutes for it to reload) and I used mcstatus.io which still didn’t work. NoIP doesn’t allow SRV records for free plans btw.
Sorry if it sounds kind of weird, I’m still working everything out and searching for a better way to do this.

making the most out of my $0.00
Which type of record does D1 uses to point to the server?
SRV
^
oo thats the problem
CNAME can only point to an A record
or another CNAME
oh
alright
so how should i connect it?
if it even is possible
Well, you could run your server on port 25565 if thats possible to you
That way you can rely only on A records
i use a host
so that wouldn’t be possible
a record to ur machine ip
and srv
um
i kinda do that
But why do you want two domains pointing to your server?
fair point
but
d1 looks ugly as hell
i could buy one ig
...,
lmfao
arent noip domains also ugly?
its alright
domains are pretty cheap nowdays
yeah
but im kinda low
Like $14 per year for a .com
i could try
but
i kinda wanna see if there would be a solution to this
Well
if not thats perfectly fine
You can also use an A record
but It will require players to write the port at the end
like.. example.com:25566
hm
i mean
bit of a hassle but yk what i’ll take it
thanks
Also there are free domains, which I wouldn't recommend, but thats an option if you are willing to take the risk
yeah
alr then thanks
np!
