paper server only uses 1 threat and doesnt run properly
Hello, i encountered an issue lately, where my paper server, running on an ubuntu server, doesnt utilise ethe whole cpu capacity it has available.
In theory, the server has 6 core, but the minecraft server only uses a single threat for some reason, there was never a problem with performance, other than some ram shortage. Im honestly a bit clueless since the subreddit has gone down.
id be really happy if someone would try to help me ^^', if needed i can give more information about the whole setup

basically download plugin and run /spark profiler and leave it for like 5-10 minutes
makes it easy to see problems
hmm i see, is there anything i have to do, load new chunks(the problem, it takes forever) or can i just afk and do something else?
yeah loading chunks would be good

loading already generated chunks is kinda okayish, still slow but loading new chunks is really bad
also im confused, why it says 2.5GB ram, it has 5GB in my setup script
oh and entities dont lag at all
10 minutes is too much no?
I heard you only need to run it for like seconds
to find issues with lag
it isnt particularly helpful over seconds
the profiler isnt able to get much info
either way in this case its a paper config issue it seems
those max-concurrent-chunk-loads and generates seem to be modified
i dont think those are the default

1.20.1 paper made new defaults
and removed some settings
im using 1.20 paper and i cant really find the chunk loading settings thingies

minecraft mainly runs on a single thread, which would explain why only one core is maxing out
well there isnt even one core maxing, it says 32%, with a second server, running in a different instance
like 32% out of 600%
Given that it’s just you online, that sounds pretty normal
You’re at 20 tps, your server isn’t under a heavy load, no reason for it to randomly max a core
It never maxed even 1 load.. i played with 5 friends and some mods on a 1.12 server (probably not too much optimisation) and it didnt have a problem at all, still didnt max a core though
Just because a service is single threaded doesn't mean the cpu scheduler will only give the workload to one core.
