Minecraft Server lags and freezes system then crashes on linux.
I just reopened a small SMP with friends and decided it would be the best for the server if I switched to linux (The distro I use is called linux mint) however after sometime my system starts to lag then the server just gets killed. This never happened on windows when I used to run a SMP and my system specs are quite fine ryzen 5600,RX 6700xt,32 gigs of ram. I am also playing in this server myself.

Also can u show the full logs instead of a screenshot?
!logs
Please check your server log for errors from your plugins.
If you need further help understanding the errors, please send us the whole log file.
Where can I find the server log?
Logs are stored in
<server_directory>/logs/
. Search for a file explorer in your server's management interface and navigate to that directory. Once you've opened that up, search for the latest.log
file. Some providers have a separate page for logs and may hide the "logs" folder.
On Aternos:
• Go to https://aternos.org/log/.
On Minehut and server.pro:
• Go to the "files" tab in the left menu.
• Navigate to the root directory of your server.
• From there navigate to /logs/latest.log
.
What should I do with the log?
• First of all, read it! I mean, that's what you do all the time when you run a server, isn't it? Try to locate any errors that have anything to do with the issue you are facing.
• If you got the latest.log
file or created a .txt
file with the necessary errors you can upload these directly to the channel, but we prefer if you upload them to https://mclo.gs/.
• If you have trouble downloading the log file, copy/paste the text to a paste service (like mclogs). Copy the link that it gives you and send it to us. (Don't worry, McLogs hides your users' IPs.)Admincraft Canned Responses

Yeah, server looks great, are you running this in a container?
Looks like the machine is running out of memory (not ur mc server)
no
I have tons of ram allocated to MC
not the server
mainly since I use big modpacks
yes I see the server has 7gb total, and the machine the server is on has 16gb
maybe that is the issue
What else is being ran on the computer, are you self hosting?
self hosting yeah
it is just a small SMP
with some freinds
max people on the server is like 7-8
I’d just allocate a little less to ur Minecraft, so ur computer has more ram to do more stuff
you might be able to get away with 6gb allocated on the server if ur not using lots of plugins and it’s only a couple people
You could also look into free hosting thru something like oracle
oracle cloud VM?
Yeah, it’s pretty limited (the free tier), but might be just enough for ur needs
I’ve personally never used it, but theres lots of others here that have can help if needed
I will look into it there are not many players and it probably has better internet then I do
so it might be better
