Recently, the Java version recommendations for Minecraft became more strict
For Minecraft <1.17, Java 11 is recommended.
Minecraft 1.17 won't start without Java 16 (or newer).
Minecraft 1.18 won't start without Java 17 (or newer).

I think i should get out of this thread :p
I'm also running Oracle free tier,
I'm using ubuntu and pterodactyl, you can do 95GB ram
Is that updated? This is for paper, not sure if it’s different on forge
it is different
isnt the limit 24 gigs tho for free?
atleast in my short experience
also should probably setup pterodactyl
nope
Forge Def doesn't always like Java 16 on 1.16
You won’t ever really won’t more than 16gb
u arent getting 96 gb of ram for free
send me a DM and ill help you
could be useful for other things for hosting multiples too
You definitely are going to be paying if you're allocating 96GB of memory.
yeah thats what i thought too
Maybe not this month, but you will end up paying. That's why they require a credit card added. Incase you allocate more resources than they give for free.
also this is the same no matter what java version tho all tutorials i have seen used this?
I guess well see,
my CC should be declined if it will try to charge me more than 400NIS
this was my main problem and why i started the thread either way
your trying to install a tar.gz
i dont think u can do that
-.-
Try terminate the VPS.,
then create new one with ubuntu
and install on it pterodactyl, it will work and will be easier
ubuntu is alot better than oracle linux
probably but i dont wanna deal with the not being able to create a instance problem ever again

How to install Java JDK 16 on CentOs
On CentOs we need to install JDK for some programs like Ant, Maven and etc. If you are already installed Java JDK and you want to update…
seems like u need a .rpm
not a tar.gz
and use localinstall
not just install
