Optiplex 7050 for Spigot 1.20

yo. I'm looking at buying an older optiplex for a 6-10 player count server with a few plugins. If I had a list I'd send it but rn I don't. 1.20 Spigot btw. The cpu is an i7-7700, 16GB of DDR4 and 240GB SSD. Is this enough for my use case? I'm open to answering any other questions before I buy.

yea I plan to honestly, only thing is the actual owner of the server wants spigot bc he doesn't like paper, which imo makes no sense since we've used it in servers past

dont use folia for a low end server

1. its not production ready. 2, he would have to build the jar himself, 3,

8 threads aint that much when the recommended optimal is 16 cores (not threads)

lmao I love starting an argument thx for the input so are the specs alr for paper or will I have to upgrade
MasterBroNetwork
That's a weird decision since Paper is effectively Spigot 2.0

audemusjura
audemusjuraOP2y ago
nah nah nah I don't own the hardware. I'm just planning to buy this hardware to replace the cloud server that the owner's running on also it's fun since servers are fun

You lose no spigot features when switching from spigot to paper. You only gain performance. The biggest change is you’ll lose some exploits such as sand duping. Which can be fixed by plugins and or purpur

tbh if you can find out what exactly is the issue with paper for them im sure there is ways around them

It’s like going out and mowing ur lawn, and the owner is saying you have to use scissors. You can’t use a lawn mower.

id just give up and move onto the next house kekw

@audemusjura idk why you let an idiot make decisions, send him to this thread so he can argue his reasons That’s like saying bukkit is good
Penguin Terminal
yeah I would reccomend purpur because of the perfomance and feature benifits
audemusjura
audemusjuraOP2y ago
alr x2 yea he says the only reason why neither paper or purpur is optimization then again it is a cloud server so idk
