Set specific gamemode (i.e. only spectator and adventure) with Luck Perms
I've got Luck Perms installed on my paper 1.19.4 sever. I want the default group to only be able to access /gamemode adventure and /gamemode survival but the
minecraft.command.gamemode
permission node gives access to all of the game modes.
Is there any way to restrict access to specific ones with my current setup, or should I install something like EssentialsX or an alternative with more fine-grained permission nodes? Thanks!21 Replies

EssentialsX is required for this I believe
š¦ unfortunate
there's no way at all to make it work with the default /gamemode command?
because essentials would work but it uses its own commands
/gma
and /gmsp
Idk.... essentials has node peems for each mode tho
yeah but unfortunately no integration with the default
gamemode

CraftBukkit Commands
The following are all the server commands either a server administrator or admin in-game can enter with CraftBukkit out-of-the-box. In addition to the original vanilla SMP commands there are 4 additional commands which are specific to CraftBukkit. CraftBukkit provides built-in permissions which can be used in a permissions manager. Defaults are ...
Hereās the documentation for the default Minecraft commands
Looks like thereās no implementation for specific gamemodes
this wiki is sweet, surprised i've never stumbled on it
unfortunate but thanks for the details
would you recommend essentialsx or an alternative?
Thereās pretty much 2 standard plugins for āessentialā commands.
EssentialsX or CMI
EssentialsX is free, CMI costs money. It's kind of personal preference.
Now they add a LOT of commands, I use essentials (currently they donāt have a 1.20version, but their 1.19 works perfectly fine on 1.20)
EsssntialsX is very customizable
You can disable some aspects
Yeah, if you want you could disable everything and just use the specific game mode. But a lot of their features are all QoL. And Iād recommend checking it out!
Tbh not too sure if thereās a smaller plugin strictly for just changing only specific gamemode.
yeah im realizing i can remove a bunch of the small feature-specific plugins i have since i've got to use essentialsx anyways now
not a huge fan of the monolith-style but whatever
how would I go about disabling features I don't need?
Add a #
you you mean in the config files, gotcha
their dev is 1.20 no?
yeah, but its a dev build
true '
never had a issue with dev builds of essentials tho
which tbh essential dev builds
are 99.999999% stable
but they advertise it as a dev build
so im not gonna say its their official 1.20 build
ended up using https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/simple-gamemode-gm-1-8-1-19.86743/, did exactly what i wanted with no trouble
