npm install speed very slow

i just created a vite project.

 npm create vite@latest

 npm create vite@latest

 npm create vite@latest

 npm create vite@latest

continued with the prompts normally, but after i went in the folder

 cd myproject

 cd myproject

 cd myproject

 cd myproject

and then installing dependencies

 npm install

 npm install

 npm install

 npm install

it seems like its taking forever.

i have a pretty fast internet speed. i don't know whats causing this. sometimes, it even fails saying connection timed out or something. does anyone know what i need to do?

This could have a lot of reasons:
1) your connection to npm is distorted/unstable -> reconnect your modem might help
2) your internet connection is temporarily distorted/unstable -> see 1)
3) your disk may be full -> clear space or try another one
4) your disk may be damaged -> try another one
5) something else may interfere with the installation (like antivirus) -> check your taskmanager if any process drains your resources
If you have a second device, try it there to see if the problem exists there. If yes its the connection, if no it is probably your pc.

i used VPN and now it installs a whole lot faster compared to without using VPN. is it my ISP? how do i address the issue? do i have to contact my ISP? what will they need to do?

if you can then just try to ask ISP but you can try using google dns or cloudflare dns from settings it works like a cham
