Is there a way to create a CustomModelData but for mobs?

The title mostly says it all. Like, apart from using other plugins, like for example ModelEngine (is the only way I know that this is possible), is there any way to create a custom model data that changes the texture of the mob? No 3D changes, just the texture itself. It's just that, if you change any mob texture on your resource packs, all mobs that use the same texture will have that replaced texture, but I want to make multiple textures for the same mob, and then like, apply them when needed, but not to all, using a mob spawning system like MythicMobs For example; let's say I want to create a new zombie texture, that makes the zombie more decayed, but this texture is applied rarely to 1 to 10 mobs that spawned, not all of them. Like a custom model data for items, but in this case for mobs.
