Horrible TPS on my ATM8 server
Hey y'all! Posting here as i'm not quite proficient in reading Spark reports yet. I have a modded server i'm hosting and I can tell there's some abnormal stuff going on in the reporter. I'm just not sure "what" or "how". I'd really really appreciate if you guys could take a look.
Running ATM8, so it's a forge server

It seems that your TPS and MSPT are directly impacted by entities

Thank you so much for the answer! And yeah the graph is very clear (can't believe i missed it...) It doesn't seem like the server has that many entities from what could be considered normal though? Or am I horribly wrong? It seems to be mostly mobs... Would you happen to have any suggestions about what a good solution would be? Still very new to hosting (server is a month old only!)
humm, did you pregenerate your world?
I did not... Should i have?
Probably a rookie mistake to not do that
yeah.. I would recommend you pregenerating a little bit of the world
atleast the main and nether
Gotcha. Is it too late to do that now, considering the world has already been edited and stuff?
Not really
You can use chunky https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/chunky-pregenerator-forge
Thank you! Is it as easy as just running /chunky start?
well, first set a radius
Something like 5k is probably a good point to start with, you can always generate more if you see your players like to explore the world
Thank you so much for all the help! I'll give it a try later today (after server restart)
np!
Also, pregenerating the world does makes the world larger in terms of disk space
You might have a problem there since it appears that you have 35gb allocated and you are already using 14gb of it.
Do you have a rough estimate of how much disk space it would require?
I'm running it all through cloud VM's so I can up the storage as needed
I dont think that pregenerating the world at 5k radius will fill up the space
but I do see how a player (or players) that like exploring can fill it up.
Gotcha. I'll keep an eye on the memory as it fills up then. Thanks yet again! I am grateful
np! happy to help
Can I ask what cloud VM ur using?
it'll be oracle's ampere arm based servers

Yep, it's Oracle ampere based server for now, and will move to other solutions once it's necessary. Sorry for the late reply my day yesterday went to real life matters. Haven't gotten around to checking pregenned world yet, but wil today
no worries im just blind
So, i pregenerated chunks in a 5k radius and it seems the lag has improved overall! Except for when i'm in a specific players base...
No idea what it is that's causing this base to croak the server

oh there's a bot now
But yeah, it's still clearly entity related, but not entirely sure which entities
Finally figured out why. It's the mod called Nature's Aura.
