Java multiplayer
Is there an easy way to make java "multiplayer friendly" similar to how bedrock works?? Just joining a friends world??? is there a mod that gives this functionality??? Some one mentioned aternos free hosting... but curious if there is a way to do it without using a 3rd party server

Wym by joining a friends' world? I only use Java so you might need to show off what functionality you're talking about
What you can do is port forward on your router (portforward.com for instructions) on 25565 to your computer.
Make sure your world has cheats enabled
Do /publish 25565
Your friends should be able to join from your public IP
Might be
/publish <port>:25565
In bedrock in the multiplayer menu you can see any freinds who are online that you can join. you just click on their world and you can join them.. similar to servers on java but you are just joining your freinds world hosted on their pc.. you can't join unless they are in the world hosting it..
i'll look into that... seems like it might work.. that just lets my pc be the "server" is that right??
I don't think Java has anything like that
Yep, only while you're on the world though.
yeah that is fine.. that is how bedrock works..
And you'd have to do /publish every time
But after that, your friends can add your IP to their multiplayer list
There's a mod called Essential which add the ability to join friends worlds
that might be just right... thanks
