What kind of headless CMS would you chose in 2023?

Hey out there 🙂 I am currently building a website, which needs some sort of Backend for users, in which they can create Posts or other custom content types, which then should be displayed on the page. Frontend/Design wise I am in a good state and now I want to create the backend for the site. Instead of building my own CMS (which could get a bit too complex) I want to use an (headless) CMS and want to ask if someone here has any recommendations or what I should really avoid. Previously I've used WordPress as a headless CMS and played around with Strapi. After my research I lean towards using Directus for this project, but I am curious if someone here got some thoughts about this topic. Hope you have a great day! 🙂

Have you looked into Sanity, they offer a generous free tier, you get image transformations out the box and its pretty flexible in terms of customising the customer interface. You can add live preview panels too. https://www.sanity.io/ Not tried it but also look into Tina since you can now do visual editing with it over Vercel. https://vercel.com/changelog/visual-editing-can-now-be-used-with-tinacms

I liked DatoCMS, it was very fun and easy however their pricing is a bit much. I would create my own cms at this point. Check out shadcn/taxonomy, it can give you pretty much what you need, in terms of blog dashboard. Or with t3.

PayloadCMS all the way. It was built by people who got fed up with WordPress, so you’ll find a lot of feature overlap
