Jacki Jing, an anime fan for almost 30 years, visits the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum to learn about the Father of Anime and God of Manga. Despite only having prior knowledge of Astro Boy, Jacki discovers Tezuka’s immense legacy in the manga and anime industry.
Tezuka’s childhood was marked by bullying and grew exponentially harder during the wartime in which he received a vaccine in unsanitary conditions. The vaccine left him almost unable to use his arms, but he was saved by an excellent doctor who inspired him to study medicine. With his mother encouraging him to follow his dreams of creating manga, Tezuka later became a mangaka and eventually created Astro Boy, a supporting character in Ambassador Atom who got his comic and anime and became a model for character merchandising.
Tezuka’s ventures into adult manga led him to create gekiga and implement an assistance system to help with spot filling, drawing lines, diagonal strokes, and backgrounds. Despite Tezuka’s contributions to the manga and anime industry, Mushi Production, his company, declared bankruptcy in 1973, causing him to step away from animation for a while.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead Anime Debuts on Hulu in U.S. on July 9
🧟 The anime adaptation of "Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" manga by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata will premiere on Hulu in the U.S. on July 9 at 5:00 a.m. EDT. 🌎 Viz Media has licensed the anime in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand and will also stream on Netflix and "other streaming platforms" which will be revealed at a later date.
🎶 The opening theme song titled "Song of the Dead" will be performed by KANA-BOON and the ending theme song titled "Happiness of the Dead" will be performed by Shiyui.
💥 "Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" follows the story of Akira Tendo who embarks on a mission to complete all 100 items on his bucket list as a zombie apocalypse ravages his town. The anime adaptation is produced by Viz Media, Shogakukan, and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd. and stars Shūichirō Umeda as Akira and Tomori Kusunoki as Shizuka Mikazuki.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Anime's Part 2 Premieres Overseas on July 8
🌟 The second part of the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime will premiere on July 8th at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Hulu, Star+, and other selected countries internationally on Disney+ with multiple language subtitles.
🌟 The anime will come back for its second cours and premiere on TV Tokyo in Japan on July 8th at 11:00 p.m. The second cours will cover volumes 55-74 of the manga.
🌟 The anime will run for four cours with breaks in between; w.o.d. will perform the opening theme song, "STARS," which will begin with Thousand-Year Blood War's second quarter; and Tomohisa Taguchi will be replacing Noriyuki Abe as director.

Yen Press Reveals New Licenses Including Kana Akatsuki's Award-Winning Agent of the Four Seasons Novel
📚 Yen Press recently announced new licenses, including an artbook for Fruits Basket titled Complete Anime Natsuki Takaya Illustrations, which features illustrations and author commentary in a single omnibus. There is also a manga anthology for Higurashi When They Cry: GOU, titled Higurashi: When They Cry: GOU Anthology Comic, bringing its cheerful vitality to life, and a novel series titled Agent of the Four Seasons by Kana Akatsuki, the creator of Violet Evergarden, which topped the New Title category of the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook.
🎨 The artbook for Fruits Basket is released to commemorate the anime adaptation of the beloved manga, while the anthology comic brings to life the cheerful vitality of Higurashi: When They Cry: GOU. The novel series Agent of the Four Seasons by Kana Akatsuki is also licensed, as well as Lord Hades's Ruthless Marriage, a manga about Hades refusing to give up his single life and love-unconvinced nature, and a vampire-themed manga called Kiss the Scars of the Girls.
⏰ The last announcement is for a manhwa, The Villainess Turns the Hourglass, in which Aria, who faces death for her misdeeds, is sent back in time with a mysterious hourglass to destroy her stepsister Mielle's life.

Cygames Reveals Bang Brave Bang Bravern Original TV Anime
📺 Cygames and Cygames Pictures announce the upcoming original robot television anime, Yūki Bakuhatsu Bang Bravern (Bang Brave Bang Bravern), directed by Masami Obari (Gravion, Gravion Zwei, Angel Blade, Battle Arena Toshinden) at Cygames Pictures (Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, Princess Connect! Re:Dive). A promotional video has been released, while the official website reveals nothing more for now.
🤖 Masami Obari, who has directed many successful anime shows in the past, is in charge of the direction of the original robot series. Cygames Pictures will be the anime studio behind this series.
🌟 Cygames has opened a website and a Twitter account for this anime. Fans eagerly await further announcements.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Film Gets Manga Spinoff About Doc Ock in Schoolgirl's Body
🕷️📘 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will get a manga spinoff titled Spider-Man: Octopus Girl, with story and art by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, the duo behind My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. The manga will launch on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ manga app on June 20.
👩🎓 The story of the manga begins when Doctor Octopus falls into a coma, and when he wakes up, he finds himself in the body of a Japanese middle schooler.
🌟 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to release in Japan on June 16th, and in the United States on June 2nd. A sequel to the 2018 CG animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the new film will feature LiSA singing the theme song "REALiZE" for the Japanese dub.

Hanayome wa Motodanshi autobiographic story of a trans woman! It's both adorable, educational and easy to read. It covers many topics such as issues in the world, HRT, self discovery and relationship.
It's really relatable as it covers life of the author in unique style!

Hayao Miyazaki's How Do You Live? Film Will Get No Trailers Before Release
🎦🚫 Studio Ghibli's upcoming movie, Hayao Miyazaki's "How Do You Live?" will be releasing in Japan on July 14, 2023, but it won't be receiving any trailers or teasers before its release. Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki revealed that they wanted to try something new and are tired of the typical marketing cycle. Suzuki gave various reasons for foregoing marketing, stating that audiences do not need trailers to be convinced to watch a movie they're interested in.
🎥📣 The studio has yet to reveal any information about the movie, such as the plot or voice cast, only previously released a poster. Suzuki also said that the minimalist approach for the movie was influenced by Miyazaki himself, who praised the poster, and they will not have any television spots or newspaper ads.
