A 52-year-old man and YouTuber was arrested in Nagoya City on Wednesday for allegedly uploading gameplay footage of the Steins;Gate game and footage from Spyร—Family and Steins;Gate anime with subtitles and narration, violating guidelines set by Kadokawa and Nitroplus. This is the first arrest in Japan made over an upload or stream of game footage.

According to police, the suspect posted these videos on YouTube and earned money from them. Many companies create guidelines for their games that specify which sections of their games are allowed to be uploaded, monetized and streamed to discourage spoilers and prevent content creators from uploading story content and profiting off of it.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“บ Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) organization noted in its own announcement that this is the first arrest made in Japan over an upload or stream of game footage.
