[SOLVED] map and coordinates is good, localization name is wrong
I am running immich on a raspberry pi 4 8Gb. The OSM map shows the right coordinates but the name of the location is wrong
In the picture attached, you can see that the photos was taken in Bangkok, however it is located in Afghanistan...

hmm intersting
I have tried to upload a new photo, and same, right coordinates and map, but localisation name is wrong
I think it used to be correct. Then I have just updated to the last server version today, maybe it has broken something.
The naming of the coordinate is actually download every night from the geolocation database I believe, and that is out of our control so something upstream might have been messed up
@jrasm91 @bo0tzz FYI
@minch try deleting and recreating the microservices container, then testing again?
Will do
i have deleted the container et and updated the stack to recreate it. But no luck
Do you have an image you can share to reproduce this?
If so, put it in a zip before uploading please
I'm heading to bed now but maybe someone else can take a look at it, else I will tomorrow
You can turn on verbose logging in microservices, then delete and re-upload the file. The logs should have some details about the gps related stuff that's happening
here, have a good night
how can I turn verbose on ?
there's an environment variable for it:
What's the zip? Can you send the original file/image/photo?
😆 I thought he meant container image 😄
here is the log
Lol too many "images"
about the log, I can see that the microservices is reverse geocoding correctly
the picture was taken in Rabat Morocco
however
on the web interface, I read

This is very strange 🤔
wait no
Is the image something you can share with us?
sorry my bad
is it the right location

but for the previously imported images, the location is still wrong
Can you zip up the file since upload the file straight up will strip its metadata
Thanks, we will take a look at this
In short though, I think the library doesn't take boundaries into account, it just uses distance between point and nearest city. That's my guess.
well for the previous picture that I have updated, for which the location was wrong after updating), it was located in andorra, pretty far from Morocco
I think something have messed with the locations of the pictures in my library
is there a way to reinitialise it ?
Meaning they have the wrong data, but on a new upload it looks to be fixed?
exactly
You can run the metadata extraction in the job panel on all asset to get it requery the location again
I uploaded your photo and got this:

that's right
I have deleted a photo I have taken tonight, when uploaded the first time, it got a wrong location
i have just reuploaded it and now it has the right location
Like Alex said, you can rerun the extract metadata job on all your assets and it should reprocess all of their locations.
alright thanks, it is ongoing
thank you so much for your support
and for your kindness
i will update the status once the metadata extraction job is done
Good luck!
all good now
thanks !!!
