In/Spectre Anime's 2nd Season Premieres with English Dub Cast on Crunchyroll!
Crunchyroll has announced that it has begun streaming the English dub for the second season of the supernatural mystery anime, In/Spectre. Cast members Lizzie Freeman and Brandon Winckler return to their lead roles along with several new and returning cast members. The anime premiered on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, and Animax in Japan in January 2023. The Crunchyroll co-production was part of the Crunchyroll Originals Slate which aired 12 episodes in the first season. Additionally, Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English. The anime is directed by Keiji Gotoh with a script by Noboru Takagi, character design by Kentarou Matsumoto, and theme songs by KanoeRana and Mamoru Miyano.

Suzume Anime Film Earns US$2.15 Million on Friday in U.S.
Makoto Shinkai's anime film Suzume debuted in the US with great success, earning $2.15 million on its Friday premiere and ranking at #4. The movie is projected to reach $5 million in its opening weekend. The film has also seen record-breaking success in other countries, earning the title of the highest-selling Japanese anime in China of all time and ranking #1 on its opening day in many countries' box office charts. The movie centers around Suzume Iwato, voiced by Nanoka Hara, and a young man named Sōta Munakata, voiced by Hokuto Matsumura, on a journey as the "Door-Closing Master." Suzume was directed and written by Shinkai, who is also credited with the original story. Other staff members include Masayoshi Tanaka as the character designer and Kenichi Tsuchiya as the animation director.

Seiji Hayashi's Ichigoki's Under Control!! Manga Ends
Seiji Hayashi's manga, Ichigoki's Under Control!!, published its final chapter in Weekly Shonen Jump's 20th issue this year. The manga's final volume will release on June 2. MANGA Plus and Viz Media released the manga in English digitally. The manga tells a story about Ichigoki, who becomes a cyborg after an encounter with an escaped gorilla.
Ichigoki's Under Control!! was launched last November by Shueisha, and its first volume was published on April 4. Seiji Hayashi, who previously drew the I'm From Japan manga, created the manga. Ichigoki's Under Control!! is a coming-of-age and buddy comedy that follows the misadventures of Ichigoki and his mad scientist friend, Misao.
The I'm From Japan manga, also created by Hayashi, ended in 2020 in Weekly Shonen Jump. It inspired a TV anime series in April 2019.

Banished From The Heroes' Party Anime's 2nd Season Reveals Title, Teaser Visual
Kadokawa reveals the new visual and title for the second season of Banished From the Heroes' Party anime! The title for the second season is Shin no Nakama janai to Yūsha no Party o Oidasareta node, Henkyō de Slow Life Suru Koto ni Shimashita 2nd. The first season is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
The first season of the anime was directed by Makoto Hoshino and the series scripts were in charge of Megumi Shimizu, while Ruriko Watanabe designed the characters. Funimation streamed the first season of the series when it aired in Japan in Fall 2021.
Banished From the Heroes' Party is based on Zappon and Yasumo's light novel series that follos a young man who is ostracized from the hero community and forced to live a quiet life in the countryside.

Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine Film Earns Best 3-Day Opening for Anime Franchise
The 26th Detective Conan movie "Kurogane no Submarine" broke franchise records and earned approximately 3.14 billion yen (about US$23.4 million) on its first three days. The story takes place on Hachijō-jima Island south of Tokyo, where engineers from around the world gather to witness the launch of a new system that enables facial recognition worldwide, and Conan receives a message from Subaru Okiya that a Europol agent has been murdered by the Black Organization's Gin. The film is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and has a cumulative franchise box office revenue of over 100 billion yen (about US$745.97 million).
The 26th Detective Conan movie had the best three-day opening for the franchise, earning 64% more than the previous movie. The film opened on April 14 and sold 580,000 tickets to earn approximately 850 million yen (about US$6.35 million) on its first day. Toho is aiming for the new film to be the first in the franchise to earn 10 billion yen.
The Detective Conan franchise's 25th anime movie, "The Bride of Halloween," sold 1,321,944 tickets for 1,907,467,150 yen (about US$15.06 million at the time) in its first three days and eventually earned 9.78 billion yen (about US$73.8 million). The 25 films have so far a cumulative box office revenue of over 100 billion yen (about US$745.97 million).

Emma, A Bride's Story Manga Creator Kaoru Mori Recovering After Surgery
Kaoru Mori, the creator of Emma: A Bride's Story manga, is currently suffering from an unspecified illness, undergoing surgery to remove uterine fibroids but is now recovering. Mori had been suffering from allergic dermatitis and calcific arthritis before her hospitalization, and also had headaches due to reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome earlier this year, with her previous conditions not improving. The manga artist assures fans that she is doing well mentally and will do her best to recover and get back to drawing as soon as possible.
Mori's newest chapter of Shirley Madison manga will appear in Aokishi's upcoming issue 13B but in an incomplete state due to her hospitalization. Her manga Emma inspired a television anime in 2005 and a sequel in 2007, while A Bride's Story manga continues to enjoy its ongoing publication.

Akudama Drive Manga Ends in May
DeNIMO will issue the final volume of Rokurou Ōgaki's manga adaptation of the original anime of Too Kyo Games and Studio Pierrot titled Akudama Drive in May. The anime is about a world divided by a war between the Kantō and Kansei countries. After the conflict ended, Kansei became Kantō's vassal state, leading to a decline of government and rise of crime.
The manga adaptation first hit digital shelves in 2020, with the eighth and latest issue came out in April. The anime itself premiered back in October 2020 on Japanese television and was released on Blu-ray and DVD in November 2021 by Funimation. Ōgaki, who launched the manga adaptation of The Unlimited – Hyōbu Kyōsuke in 2013, has previously worked on Zettai Karen Children and the manga spin-off Crazy Food Truck.
The English digital serialization of the Akudama Drive manga is being done by Renta!, while fans of the series looking for a physical copy will have to wait for the volume release from DeNIMO.

Otome Yōkai Zakuro Manga Resumes This Fall After 7 Years on Hiatus
Otome Yōkai Zakuro manga, which went on hiatus seven years ago after author Lily Hoshino gave birth to her first child, is set to resume publication on Comic Boost's manga website and app this fall. Lily Hoshino is also known as the original character designer of Kunihiko Ikuhara's Penguindrum original television anime.
Hoshino gave birth to a second child in March 2019, and she has not yet announced a return date for her Kigurumi Guardians manga, which also went on hiatus when she gave birth to her first child. The manga launched in Nakayoshi magazine in 2013 and has three volumes, with Kodansha USA Publishing having published all three volumes in English.
Otome Yōkai Zakuro manga inspired a 13-episode television anime series that aired in 2010. NIS America released the anime on DVD in 2012, and the manga's 10th compiled book volume shipped in 2015.

Boruto Manga Goes on Hiatus
The Boruto manga will go on hiatus starting in the next issue and will return in the October issue, which should ship around August 20, according to the June issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine. The manga will enter a new arc upon its return. Ukyo Kodachi and Mikio Ikemoto launched the sequel manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in May 2016, and the manga ran monthly in the magazine.
The anime for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo in April 2017, Viz Media licensed the series and streamed it on Hulu as it aired in Japan, and Crunchyroll also streamed the anime. Kishimoto launched the original Naruto manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, and ended the series in November 2014.
The manga's 19th compiled book volume was published on February 3, and Viz Media is publishing the series both digitally and in print. The anime's "Part I" ended with its 293rd episode on March 26, and "Part II" of the anime has been green-lit.

The Case Study of Vanitas Manga Resumes on May 22
The Case Study of Vanitas manga will return from hiatus after 11 months on May 22nd in Gangan Joker magazine. Yen Press has been publishing the manga simultaneously in English since its debut, and the story follows Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend's salvation, drawn to Paris by The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation.
The manga is written by Jun Mochizuki, the creator of Pandora Hearts and Crimson-Shell, and has been published in Square Enix's Gangan Joker since December 2015. In July 2021, the television anime of the manga premiered, and Funimation streamed the first part along with an English dub. The anime's second part premiered in January 2022, with both Funimation and Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired.
