Thank you, this is a known issue and we haven't found the root causes yet. it is considered as cosmetic bug as of this state
That's fair enough, just wanted to report incase it hadn't been already 🤗
That happened to me as well. Could be related to the situation when you delete photos during the backup running
@Alex It seems to me that it’s actually more than a cosmetic issue. It happened to me as well. I had a counter with -2 remainder. and when it does, the next two photos taken are not uploaded to the cloud and the app considers the remainder to be 0 now.
Can you try clearing local storage of the app and see how many it would display now?
How can I do that? I use ios
If you use iOS then can you try uninstall and install the app again?
@Alex that helps, now it’s showing the correct number and I can back up those two photos.
hmm, okay, this buy is very hard to track down as for the life of me I couldn't reproduce it on my end
did you notice anything special that you did between the Photos app and Immich that might change the asset count?
deletion/editing...etc?
I might have deleted some photos while the upload was still ongoing. I will try to reproduce it and update here
Thank you
Cant reproduce it unfortunately 😦
I too received this as well (-114 at peak). I had photos backed up on a PC and uploaded them from PC to immich, then sync'd most of the same photos from the phone and it just kept counting down into the negatives with "remaining items".
It's as if it mis-counted the original number of files on my phone to sync but then counted down correctly.

This is good data point to replicate this issue
if you logout and log back in on the mobile app, does it help clearing things up?
no - it retains the negative number of "remainder"
okay thank you for reporting
just to confirm
you upload some photos from the web/cli and those photos are also similar to the one uploaded on the phone thereafter, correct?
correct. full steps:
clean install
1) 2 small albums with 146 pictures were uploaded from the app
2) ~7000 photos were uploaded from a computer, most would have been overlapped with the previous 146
3) more albums totaling ~7500 photos were uploaded through the app. These would have included all 7000 previously uploaded pictures.
a) as it was counting down the remaining items, it went into the negatives final state - ~7500 photos in immich app shows: Total 465 backup 569 remainder -104

Thank you
Lmao I have -1518
Is this the highest recorded?
This happened 2-3 times
I'm pretty sure the
Total
and Backup
values flipSame problem happened to me as well... and I believed it was because during my first upload it freeze so I had to force close the app... Now as @Alex said, I've deleted and redownloaded the app on ios, and it worked... No more negative remeinder, but 1 single picture remains to be uploaded but it doesn't! In the loading details at the bottom of the Backup page, it remain at 100% but it never ends... The name of the file is "FullSizeRender.jpg [image]" and in the library it seems not uploaded
I had some of these issues as well because my server storage space ran out. Running some of the jobs like generating missing thumbnails fixed it
My server crashed (or ran too slow too slow and the connection timed out) a few times while uploading ~2000 photos from my phone (OnePlus 8). I assumed this was because I am running on windows through WSL but who knows. I got -280 assets.
I re-set my app and it worked great. There was one video that it didn't want to upload. It would sit at 100% and not show up the server. Thankfully I didn't want it to be uploaded anyway so I deleted it and all was fine
Hello,
I just noticed this, I had deleted one image after it was uploaded but that was roughly 1 week ago. Since then I just open the app and leave it open for foreground backup to work. Today during one of those I noticed this. The upload seems to continue and I think I have 3750 photos approximately.

I just checked administration on web UI, and it says this user has 3970 photos and videos and it tallies with the mobile app and the remainder has stopped at -555, total 3415 assets.

The negative number is a known cosmetic bug, as you see it uploads everything on your phone
You can clear the app cache or reinstall the app to fix the negative number
I reinstalled the app, and it worked.
I read this thread, and I know it is not a priority, I just wanted to report it 🙂
Got the same issue on Nothing Phone 1 as well
