Solution: Remove Permanent Ping on Val
I keep seeing people unable to find a solution to clearing the ping.
The ping that people have difficulty clearing is the latest Gekko post on #game-news .
1. Mute the channel #game-news .
2. Go to server settings, choose mark as read
3. Refresh Discord (PC: Command+R) (Mobile: Swipe out)
It should be cleared, then.

i got it to work after the 10th time refreshing
i got this to work by right clicking on the message and marking it unread

If you are experiencing a stuck notification icon
1) <id:customize> Remove News Roles
2) Find latest #game-news post
3) Right click and select mark unread
4) Clear app cache / press CTRL + R
